Fluid Bed Dryers

Fluid bed dryers, as the name implies, are used to dry products such as granules, tablets, powders, fertilizers, and polymers. They may also be used to dry a variety of other materials.

In order to function, fluid bed dryer operates on the concept of fluidization, which is the conversion of material from a static solid-like state to a dynamic fluid-like one. In this procedure, hot gas or air is delivered into the space containing the material via a perforated distribution plate. This heated gas flows through the gaps between solid particles, causing them to expand and contract. In proportion to the rise in gas or air velocity, the upward forces exerted on the particles increase, forcing them to equalize with the gravitational forces exerted below them.

This results in a state of fluidization, in which the particles are suspended in what seems to be a boiling bed of liquid, creating the appearance of a bubble. What was previously a solid object may now move like water. Each particle is in direct touch with and surrounded by the hot gas or air, resulting in a drying process that is both efficient and consistent.

When using the system, the temperature of the intake air may be adjusted to ensure that the proper quantity of moisture is evaporated off the surface of the granule. An excessively high input air temperature may result in the formation of a surface crust, which inhibits deeper moisture from being transferred to the surface, thus delaying rather than speeding up the drying process.

Traditional conveyor belt dryers, which take up more area and need more maintenance, are not what you require. If possible, avoid purchasing a fluid bed dryer with out-of-date decks that don't allow for enough circulation or properly dispersed heat. By selecting all of the features offered in a high-quality fluidized bed processor, you may eliminate the need for continuous monitoring, lubrication, and unclogging associated with a conventional dryer:
